An $8 Self Esteem Boost

Sundays and Mondays are the best days off ever! If you know me, you've heard me preach about this before. It's so nice to have a day of rest after the busy week, and then to have a day to get things done. Of course, if there are family activities on Saturdays, you're up the creek. Anyway, we skied the first part of the day until it got so slushy it was hard to move. Seriously, the last run we took had a long flat section right at the bottom that was incredibly sticky. We had to skate-ski to make it. As we were leaving, one of the parking attendants made a crack about our dirty car. When you live out in the sticks, everybody drives dirty cars. It's always snowing with muddy or salty roads and few make it a priority to wash their cars regularly. I thought, maybe if we have time today, we'll wash it.

The second part of the day in Salt Lake was slightly productive. Our errands took us from downtown to 117oo South and Bangeter Hwy. to 3200 E and 3300 S and then back to downtown. We made a complete loop of the valley! What did we accomplish?
1. Nobody in SLC is capable of fixing the bales on my telemark boots.
2. Bevan's Ipod is broken beyond repair... but we will get a whole 10% off a new Ipod if we recycle it.
3. REI stopped carrying my favorite Nalgene bottle.

Here are the highlights of the trip:
1. We finally got the car washed.

It was a day well spent!

Yet, another winter sport...

This morning I went snowboarding with Bevan, Paul, and my mom. We went a few weeks ago on a Monday up to Brighton, and since we had so much fun, we decided to do it again. Who would've thought it would be an exact repeat! There was a TON of powder... again! There's a reason Brighton and Alta were the first ski resorts. Geographically speaking, they get more snow than anywhere else. It's so light and fluffy, you try to grab some with your gloves and it dissipates. Mom had never snowboarded in powder before and she realized why people like it so much better. It's like floating and it's also not as hard when you fall. Bevan ran into some co-workers from Deer Valley and they were shocked to see him on a snowboard. They couldn't have called him a traitor since some of them were on snowboards themselves. I guess we all have secret lives. We also had a fun time making fun of the "dirtbag lifties" and their low-slung pants and hoodies underneath their uniforms. We're so used to the stiff, over-manicured lifties at Deer Valley. It's a totally different crowd on the other side of the mountains. Here's some good pictures and videos of the day's events. The snow was coming down so hard, I was nervous pulling out the camera for a long amount of time. I only took a few.

Gotta love "tall Paul".

Ahhhh, how cute!
