Cousin Ski Day 2023

This has been such a fun tradition! We had representation from Nora, Vanessa, and Tom’s families. I had almost all my kids skiing (Still working on teaching Tommy. I’ll get right on that!). We got there early and it was still so cold! I had toe-warmers on each toe and hand-warmers on each little hand. I can’t believe how much of a difference those make! There was only a little bit of complaining. In the end, it seems that everyone had fun. Cousins make everything better!

January, the big dump!

Well, the snow keeps coming and coming! My winter routine has transitioned to lots and lots of snow removal. Bevan hurt his shoulder early in the season, which left me shouldering most of the work around here. Amazingly, school has not been cancelled once! No late-starts either. I guess we got lucky with the major dumps happening on the weekend. Our trees have taken a toll, it looks like the moonglow junipers may have to go, as well as some larger limbs from the chokecherries. Geez! I’ve had threats from the mailman saying our mailbox isn’t cleared “enough” and they will stop our mail, so I’ve been working on that in my free time.

The snow has made for some great skiing this month! I took Anna and Ryder to Soldier Hollow for some cross-country skiing and it was really fun, but super cold. Anna said she really liked it and wants to do it more. Well, we shall see. Cross country skiing is what I do to get AWAY from kids. I’ve had some good skis up Snake Creek and Gaurdsman. The state park course is even groomed. How about that?! I haven’t been to Deer Valley much. Teaching Tommy how to ski is still on the radar. I’ll have to wait until it quits snowing so much!

Hang time and Pizza

January started out with a bang for sure!  After spending ALL DAY shoveling and moving snow on New Year's Day, we needed a break!  Part of the kids' Christmas present was a day at a trampoline park.  On Monday, we went down to Orem to burn some energy.  Bevan and I just chilled on the benches, resting our arms.  Kiddos had a blast with the huge slide, trampolines, jungle gym, dodge ball, and zipline.  Hangtime in Orem is definitely their favorite!

We headed to Pizza Pie Cafe afterwards.  Dallin had 9 slices of cheese pizza and Anna had 3 bowls of spaghetti.  Drew mostly had oreo pizza, though I lost count how many slices!  Tommy managed to eat one whole slice of pepperoni pizza by himself.  What a kid!  We headed home afterwards, in a snow storm, and prepped for more shoveling.  How long can this keep up?
