The big 35

Oh, yes!  This had to be a good birthday, right?  35 is a very important number!  I was able to cash in on a lot of babysitting hours and shipped my kids to various houses for the day.  And then I skied with my lovely sisters!  It was so perfect!  It had snowed a couple days before, so the runs were soft, the sun was out, and Bevan was able to stay with us for a couple hours!  We lunched with my favorite turkey chili cheese fries!  It was a great day!  I had to make it back in time for school pick-up ... and to get ready for birthday dinner (again at Deer Valley)!

Ah, Fireside Dining at Deer Valley!  It's been a few years, but I'm amazed how much the menu has NOT changed.  Basically, there are 4 courses, all cooked and served from giant stone fireplaces.  You start with melted Swiss raclette cheese and various breads and cured meats (could've used a few more crackers).  Next course is wild mushroom stew and some other vegan option I don't remember.  Then there's leg of lamb and the cheesiest risotto I've ever had!  A few more side dishes later and then time for dessert (which I should've done first).  Fondue chocolate, white chocolate, and caramel with every fruit and goodie for which to dip!  I was stuffed!  What a great birthday dinner.  Bevan still prefers Seafood Buffet, but I rather enjoyed Fireside Dining.  Turning 35 has never tasted so good!
