Date night at Olympic Park!

Deer Valley has incredible company parties.  This year they decided to rent out the Olympic Park for all the employees and their families.  This was back during August and it was cancelled because of rain.  Yeah, it rained a LOT in August!  I was so disappointed.  I can see the Olympic Park from my office and have always wanted to go there!  To supplement the cost of keeping a ski jump open year round, they installed an alpine slide, some zip lines, a ropes course, and other fun activities!  They charge a fortune to do these activities, more that Lagoon!  But it doesn't cost anything with these nice "rain checks" they gave us!  Woo hoo!   I did some research and realized it's no place for small children.  Oh, it looks like mommy and daddy are making a DATE of it!  We chose a Saturday afternoon in the middle of October.  I can't think of the last time we've been on a REAL date!  It was awesome!

We drove to Kimball Junction and had a date!  I introduced Bevan to Freebirds World Burrito (so yummy), bought some cheap sweatshirts at Walmart (forgot our jackets at home), and traded our rain checks for 2 wristbands.  Our afternoon was limited and we underestimated how much time you have to stand in line!  I was a little annoyed.  We were only able to do each zip line once and the alpine slide twice!  (I drove too slow the first time, and Bevan, who was behind me, got mad)  Anyway, for free wristbands, it was worth it.  I'd be mad if I actually paid real money to stand in line so much!  But then I think, this is Park City.  This is nothing for them!  Especially if they ski at PCMR or Canyons, they should be really used to spending big money to stand in lines and ride slow lifts!  Hehe!

We did have a fun time, and it was blog-worthy, so here's some pictures!  Yay for cheap fun!

October Conference 2014

Who can resist a good party?!  That's always what conference weekend has in store, not to mention amazing talks by the general authorities!  Bevan had this tradition while he was growing up of driving up to Timpooneke Campground, making breakfast, and listening to the morning session by radio.  His mom wanted to revive the tradition.  Sounds like a party!  We underestimated how long it would take from our house, and we were fashionably late, but breakfast was almost done!  Oh, I love those mountains!  The colors were spectacular and there were a couple bull moose right by our site.  I was sad to leave, but we were already plotting next year and adding an overnight camping option!

There was a tandem party at the cabin, but we caught plenty of that as well!  Nora, Tom, Allen, and their families were all there!  Let's see, butternut squash pasta, cafe rio salads, cinnamon bread french toast, and "poppers"!  It was nice to just let Dallin go and wander, without worrying about busy roads.  Anna LOVED her cousins and played with them every minute.  I caught more of the talks than I usually do with that many kids around.  It helped that the weather was good and they were mostly outside.  Everything that was spoken sounded brilliant to me!  I haven't sat through anything that inspiring (uninterrupted) in months!
