Heber Half 2020

I still can't believe they let this race happen!  I mean, they've been cancelling everything: Ogden, Boston, Swiss Days, etc.  The race directors must've stayed in the health department's good graces!  We had to cross our hearts that we would keep masks on until the race actually began, even though we were all packed on buses together and standing closely in line for the port-a-potties... but if you have a mask, all is well, I guess.

I still love this race!  The course is so fun and windy and downhill-ish.  And it was so fun to run with Bevan.  I definitely didn't train as well this year and I could tell.  I ran out of gas the last 2 miles and had to slow down a little.  I let Bevan go ahead and he sprinted off like it was nothing.  I guess I was really holding him back!  So, no PR this year, but now I know I can't just wing-it on race day.  It takes prep, dang it!

The finish line food wasn't as good, but that was expected.  Hands grabbing for cups of gatorade, donuts, and sliced oranges weren't to be.  The volunteers in masks and gloves handed us pre-packaged waffles and 8 oz. smoothies (no spoons nor straws, so they took forever to eat).  I did find a truck handing out donuts after all.  Mmmmm!  Donuts with a side of ibprophen.

Ackerson Baptism/ Blessing Double-header

It was so fun to have 2 great events in 2 days! Eli was baptized on Saturday morning in Heber. And even though we live super close, we were still the last to arrive. Ugh, someday! Anyway, it was super special with amazing talks and Bentley performing the baptism itself! Then, they surprised us with Bentley’s ordination afterward. I heard it was wonderful. By then, the littles had checked out… literally. Drew just left and decided to go hide behind the air conditioners outside. That kid! By the time the party moved to Tom’s house, there was more to entertain the kiddos, so I was able to gorge on Tom’s amazing smoked pork!

On Sunday, we had baby Chloe’s blessing at Paul’s house. This time, we left the kiddos back at Nora’s house to run around and get lost and I would never know. This made the blessing very peaceful! Chloe is such a cute baby… and especially cute after a string of 10 boys in a row in our family. We are definitely ready for some pink!
