Sharon's in Town!

It's so fun when Sharon and her family comes to Utah!  I wish I wasn't so stinkin' busy, so I could spend more time with her and her kids.  We're so lucky that our kids actually have a relationship with their cousins, thanks to phones, social media, and "polo".  Yes, all those things I don't like can be very benefitial to keeping in touch with family.

Last Thursday, we saw 7 Brides for 7 Brothers here in Midway at the outdoor theater.  We got 17 tickets, which included, Sharon, Nora, Kim, Tom and a whole lot of kids.  It was amazing!  I'm always astounded at the talent in the valley.  It's so fun to see friends up on stage singing and dancing like they do it everyday.  It was cloudy and cool and I wish I had brought a sweatshirt.

On Monday, we drove up into the Wasatch state park.  Sharon wanted to see Cascade Springs for the first time and I wanted to experience the new road for the first time!  They just paved it and it made the trip so much more enjoyable.  We had Cascade Springs all to ourselves.  After lunch, we headed to Kamas pool and spend about 3 hours swimming, which made us super hungry for hamburgers at Grandma Christy's house.  There's a party every night when Sharon's in town!

Mirror Lake

This place is seriously heaven-on-earth!  The temperatures were in the low 70's, the campsite was cheap, and the lake was full (where can you find that?!)  Sure, it takes a little planning ahead, but it was totally worth it.  Nora's family camped with us, which we found very useful as they brought the supplies that we forgot and they brought cousins to entertain my kids.  We ate amazing food like fruity pancakes, french toast, and tin foil dinners.  We had a great spot pretty close to the lake, which made it easy to get out on the kayaks and paddleboard.  I think the best thing about camping these days is that I don't have to watch Tommy every second.  He's old enough to roam and wander, find bugs and worms, get dirty, and hang out with his cousins.  Mom, Dad, Sharon, and her kids came up for Saturday afternoon and it was fun to have even more people.  I think we need to make this an annual thing!

4th of July Weekend!

We felt so honored to be invited to the best party in Midway!  That was actually one of my first thoughts when I found out that Dallin would be in the Hewlett's primary class.  They can't invite everybody, but always invite their primary class and their families.  Score.  The fireworks were amazing and the subsequent brush fires on the hill were even more exciting!... until they put them out.

On Monday, we decided to take the kids on a "hike" at Deer Valley.  Gotta use those free season passes at least ONCE this summer.  We brought a ton of snacks and planned on at least 2 hours to hike the 2 miles downhill.  We barely made it for last chair back to Snow Park.  They're getting better though!  Soon we'll all be hiking Timp together.  Too bad you can't just take a chair lift to the top of THAT!
