We were wondering how the weather was going to behave for Easter weekend. It’s been a crazy spring so far! We had an easter egg hunt sponsored by our primary the week before and it was epic. We still had so much snow on the ground, which made finding colorful eggs pretty easy. The kids just had to wear their boots and snow pants… to hunt eggs! The next weekend, we were at Nora’s and there was no snow. Just lovely weather, amazing food, chocolate peanut butter mousse pie, and the knowledge that Jesus lives again! We are so grateful for the hope that gives us! Happy Easter everyone!

Zion Trip
I thought that being super proactive in the winter and booking a bunch of spring campsites would pay off. Well, we didn’t have that warm of a spring. We had to cancel our March trip, but I really wanted to keep our April trip to Zion! We knew the weather would be turning, but took a chance anyway. We brought our MORE water-proof tent, just in case. The first day was amazing. We drove the tunnels, took the shuttle up to the narrows and weeping rock, and gawked at all the waterfalls! I’ve never seen it like this. The upper plateaus were melting off, which created waterfalls everywhere!
The next day, we hiked Emerald Pools… with about 5,000 other people! We lost the boys only once though. Not bad. The water was running high which made fun stream crossings. The wind had also started to pick up so the waterfalls would sporadically shift and spray whoever was near. Tommy got nailed pretty good, which made him cry. Luckily it was still warm. The weather came through that evening and the wind shifted to snow pretty quickly. We spent the evening in the tent, watching screens and running a space heater. What else can you do?
By the next morning, we had an inch of snow on the tent. Sheesh! We were out of there! The fresh snow really did make for some amazing contrast with all the red rock. The kids really want to come back when the weather isn’t so sketchy. When will that ever happen?
