Jazz Date

Every once in a while, I get to pretend I know ANYTHING that's going on with the Jazz.
So, when did Jerry Sloan retire?
I get re-familiar with names like Rudy Gobert and Donovan Mitchell.  That new coach could use new hairdo.  We had decked-out nachos for dinner and an iceberg shake for dessert.  Yes, it was fabulous!  The Jazz came back from a 17 points down to WIN!  The boys love that we come home with new "swords" for them to hit each other with.

Ice Castles

We weren't planning on Ice Castles this year...but those generous folks decided to have a cheap "locals day"... which was actually cancelled after we bought the tickets.  But then they gave us a rain-check!  And then I found out they were closing for the season.  Time to go!
It was pretty melty-melty, but still worth an afternoon.  They weren't able to get the walls very tall, but they had fun ice slides and tunnels.  I liked going in the daylight.  Not only was it dead, but the kids could wander off and explore on their own.  Anna ran off with Ryder.  Dallin was being bad by cutting in line for the slides.  Bevan thought he could recruit the soon-to-be-unemployed ice workers to Deer Valley, but they were all still in high school.  Rats.  It was all pretty entertaining!

Cousin Ski Day

13 passes, 3 big bowls of turkey chili cheese fries, and 1 amazing day.  Yes, it was cold, but these Ackersi are all tough!  I'm sorry I had to leave early, but I'm glad everyone else stayed until the bitter end!  Finally, a HUGE thanks to Uncle Bevan for sponsoring mi familia!

Pocatello!

How long have we been doing this, driving to Pocatello for the superbowl?  I know we did it before Anna was born, but the exact year is fuzzy.  This year did not disappoint!  Well, except for maybe the game itself.  It was the Patriots vs. some other team and it was the lowest-scoring game in superbowl history.  Even the commercials were sub-par.  That didn't stop us from having so much fun.  Vanessa's house was made for fun!  Let's not forget the amazing food and all the fresh snow.  We ventured out for some sticky cross-country skiing the next morning and had quite the workout, which justified eating amazing leftovers for lunch.  We stopped by Lava Hot Springs on our way home.  It's funny, the kids thought we were going to soak in "hot lava".  I think Dallin was disappointed when he saw just water, but it was the joke of the afternoon.  They loved the hot pools and can't wait to go back.  Phew!  Another destination activity with the whole family is successful!  I'm getting braver.
