YW Camp 2023

Anna and I had such a fun time at girls camp this year! I was a big fan of the venue, Zion Ponderosa Ranch resort. They have such great amenities:  swimming pool, hot tubs, pickleball courts, sports field, and real bathrooms and showers! The weather was also perfect... normally it's supposed to be in the 90s this time of year, but I doubt it even got to 80. They planned an adventurous repel/canyoneering adventure for all the youth. I signed up me and Anna for the "harder one", knowing it would take all day with a group that size. I was right!  It really was so much fun, and it was fun to see Anna push herself to do hard things. I've never been a huge fan of rappelling... and haven't been in the harness since the Tetons.  It all came back to me fairly quick. Sandstone slot canyons are a lot more fun than rocky, windy, exposed mountain ledges. It made from some amazing pictures too!

The next day, we hung around camp a little more with some spiritual building/ life improving breakout sessions. I was really amazed with the ycl's came up with.  After lunch, we had an all sports tournament which included every activity the resort offered. It ended with a synchronized swimming competition at the pool and we were all dying of laughter! These girls are so clever.

Early the next morning, a couple of us leaders were able to hike out to Observation Point for sunrise. It really puts the Zion Canyon in perspective. So glad we were at the top looking down and not the other way around. We rushed to get back to camp before breakfast, but even at 8:00 a.m., hardly anyone was stirring! No worries there. We eventually ate, got packed up, and started heading back home. I was truly amazed that our camp leaders could pull this all together, and even more amazed that the girls took the time to show up. Can't wait until next camp! Woohoo!

Spring Sports

News flash: I'm no sports mom. Springtime is very busy for me going back to work and such, and I don't have time to drive kids to sports and then patiently (yet adorably) watch kids kick/ throw balls around. In another life, I would love to do it! But I'm just too busy this time of year. But BEVAN, on the other hand... has all the time in the world now that it's his off-season. I signed him up to coach Drew's soccer team and also to assistant coach Dallin's baseball team. Booyah! I even agreed to help out the soccer team by sending out texts, organizing snacks and helping with substitutions during game day, if I was available. This would guarantee that Drew and his team got excellent communication, up dates, real practices and drills.  With Dallin's baseball, it guarenteed that at least one of us would be there to cheer him on at all times, which was mostly Bevan.  It was amazing how much they both improved!  Their sports did overlap for a little bit, which created for a crazy couple weeks.  Now that it's over, summer can start!  Now only if it would warm up a little bit...
