Reality hits you hard when you become a first-time home owner.
"Why don’t we own a ladder?"
"Do you feel that draft coming from the stairs?"
"Why do these walls seem so bare?!"
Bevan, Anna, and I have loved getting accustomed to being responsible. We feel like real grownups when we receive things like gas bills and mortgage statements. We have finished the painting, the carpeting, and new wood flooring. We’ve been busy insulating above the crawlspace (still can’t believe it’s never been done) and leaning how to install baseboard molding (not as easy as I thought). I’ve been busy KSL-ing and came out on top with a great bedroom set for cheap. I have plans to find a twin mattress boxspring and headboard, another couch for our family room, and eventually some real tools, so we can give back all of the ones we’ve borrowed over the past month.
Anna is starting to demand some REAL attention and is not content just sitting in her barn chair anymore. She’s growing like a weed, more vertically than anything. We just had her 2-month checkup and she impressed us with 11 lbs.6 oz. and 24 in. long!!! We’ve been taking walks around Midway with the stroller and we love being so close to a store, the post office, the park, the church, and the 7-eleven (Bevan made me include that). Midway is a great little town, although we’ve been bitten with “supporting the local businesses”. I’m sorry, but frozen yogurt for 3 people should NOT cost $14 and a piece of trim from the local cabinet shop should NOT cost…well… what I paid for it…even if it WAS knotty alder!
Going back to the baby… her smiles are multiplying every day! Her dark hair has not fallen out and she hates having her feet tickled. We’ve been practicing her bottle-feeding in hopes of letting her mommy have a ski day before the snow melts. She’s very advanced and always looks like she’s thinking deeply about something, probably about when she’s supposed to be eating next.
