First of all, I'd like to apologize on the lack of blog posts lately. It's been hard not having 24-7 access to Internets, but at the same time, I never realized how much time I waisted on it before! Now I go to the library with a list of things I need to do online. It's slightly pathetic, but I feel so organized!
Anyway, there hasn't been that much to post on lately. The ski season ended and the snow held up remarkably well. We got some major storms a week before we closed. It was nice to ditch my responsibilities for an while and go hard-core powder skiing before it got too firm. I achieved my winter goal at getting good at telemark skiing. I've mastered almost every terrain with the exception of icy moguls (but honestly, that would take a lifetime!). Now on to summer adventures!
We got roped into another time share presentation, this time in Las Vegas, so we decided to make that the destination of our annual road trip. We camped one night outside Mesquite and went the rest of the way to Las Vegas the next day. We had some time to kill before we could check into our hotel, so we did our duties of eating at In-and Out Burger and strolling the strip. Bevan learned very fast to keep his eyes looking straight ahead! After staying 2 nights at South Point, eating 4 free buffets, watching a lot of TV, and feeling completely lazy and gross... it was easy to say NO to the timeshare offer. Condos and hotels are great and all, but I really missed the fresh air and entertainment you can only get from NATURE. We were happy to leave Vegas and get back to southern Utah.
We spent the next day at Snow Canyon State Park, outside St. George. It was so beautiful and sunny and I couldn't get enough of the red rock! Sad to leave, but on to Kolob Canyon! We decided to do an overnighter near Kolob Arch. It was only 6 miles each way so I knew it wouldn't be too much for out-of-shape ski bums like us. I could've stayed there forever! Feelings of peace and solitude are something that our timeshare sales lady couldn't understand. She said she'd be too afraid of the animals attacking her. It's fun to see how different people interpret the meaning of "vacation". Alas it was time to go back north. I'm glad that summer is coming and there will be more stuff to do around where we live. Too bad there's no red rock, unless we want to go camping at Red Ledges. Wouldn't THAT be a sight! Golfing millionaires next to homeless-looking car campers.
