Where has the year gone so far?! Baby, anniversary, new house... ya know... the usual. Time flies when there's a lot going on. Here's the story... (I'll try to keep it simple)
We were looking at houses pretty aggressively several months ago. This house in Midway caught our eye, the price was right, the timing was completely inconvenient, so we new it was right. We closed Dec. 16th, when Anna was only 3 weeks old and moved in as soon as we had a hot water heater. It was the start to a cascade of home improvement projects. We call it the "might as well" house.
The carpet stinks... might as well clean it.
The carpet STILL stinks... might as well rip it out
As long as the carpet was coming out...might as well tear out the slate
might as well paint all the walls and ceilings
might as well upgrade all the toilets
might as well get wood flooring
and so it goes!
I can't wait until it's time to landscape the outside of the house.
There's really too much to write about. I'd like to give a shout out to my loving parents and in-laws who have put in countless hours ripping out carpet and slate, cleaning blinds and windows, painting walls and holding babies. Bevan has been terribly patient with me and I love him for it. My last shout out goes to my beautiful baby, who has withstood days of neglect, being forced to sit patiently in her barn chair between feedings, watching her mommy have all the fun. I only dripped paint on her once and I think the smell of latex slightly soothes her. It will all be over soon. There is light at the end of the tunnel. There will be soft carpet for her to crawl on and smooth wood floors to spit-up on.
