Graduates 2020

I know I’m getting old when, between our families, we have 9 high school graduates! It’s hard to tell when the graduations even happened. They all had their own little walking ceremony and they were all very quick and uneventful. That’s okay, save it for the after-party! We had a fun family dinner at the Hawkins for Treyson, Jordan, and Peyton. We’ll see the twins sometime in August, I hope!

The next week, we had a dinner for the Ackerson graduates: Addie, Carson, Bentley, and Jacob. My kids always have a blast at Nora’s house. She decorated her house all festive and served all the favorites. It’s tough to be a graduate right now, but these kids are so motivated, I’m sure they’ll do great!

Birthday + Memorial Day Extravaganza

Because this time, it was a REAL party! So many cousins, so much food! We even sprung for a bouncy house, because they are super cheap to rent right now (can’t imagine why?). It kept the kids entertained all day. Dallin said it was the best birthday ever! It will be hard to top this next year.

Wrapping up the school year

I feel like this covid time hasn’t been that bad for our kids… except for the whole not-going-to-school thing. Even that’s been going better. It took almost 2 months, but Dallin is finally “not hating” his school work… and this is the last week. I don’t usually have them signed up for extracurricular activities or camps or teams anyway. We didn’t have many summer plans, except for the family reunion. I figure, they have a backyard, they have their bikes, and they still have their neighbor friends. Well, a couple of them had to stay away for a couple weeks, but for the most part, it’s been hopping!

We finally moved Anna downstairs to her own bedroom, with the understanding that if we ever get a visitor again, she needs to vacate. The boys now all share the upstairs bedroom and even with 3 of them, it’s still cleaner than Anna’s room. I’ve installed some black-out curtains, which has been a total game changer! How have I gone this long without them?!

I took the older kids + Ryder to Maeve’s baptism on the 3rd. It had to be rescheduled from the middle of March, when all H broke loose. Restrictions got lifted the beginning of May and the missionaries scheduled it for bright and EARLY on a Sunday morning. It was actually a great way to spend the sabbath. The service was very short, we were all sitting in clumps at least 6’ away from each other, and there were less than 20 people. Is this going to be the new normal? Oh, please let life get back to normal soon!
