Ackerson Reunion 2022!

Back to Bear Lake!  This place is so wonderful.  Turquoise water, soft sand, perfect weather, not too hot, it's the best venue.  Shout out to Monica for planning it halfway across the country.  She did a great job!

I felt like I had more freedom with the kids this year.  They roamed around, played with cousins, and I didn't have to worry about them so much!  Even at the beach, they played so well and independently, it gave me time to have fun myself for a change.  Even so, I got the greatest enoyment from just sitting in the shade, watching them play.  Bevan and I even got to ride around the lake... together!  This was a first.  The kids did great on their own.

We did side trips to the store in Garden City, go-kart rides, and raspberry shakes.  On Sunday, we even went to church at their new "visitors branch" chapel.  We sure love this place!

Mirror Lake

This is such a fun tradition! It doesn’t seem possible that you would have to reserve these camp sites 6 months in advance, but it was so worth it. We had Tom’s family and Nora’s family, and Mom and Dad came up for the Saturday. We just love any excuse to go camping with cousins. On Saturday morning, a bunch of us hiked up Bald Mountain. I forget how steep that hike is! But the views from the top were incredible. We came back and spent the rest of the day chilling by the lake. The boys are so confident on kayaks and paddle boards; it’s getting a little more fun. Of course, Drew paddled off for a VERY long time, but he was just making friends on the other side of the lake. That kid! Dallin and Mckay spent a lot of time “fishing”, which consisted of hooking an already-dead fish and reeling it in again and again. That evening, Tommy showed us all up by walking around the entire lake. He slept so well that night! We will be back, Mirror Lake!

4th of July!

We did a little bit of everything this year:  woke up by the city cannons, rode in a bike parade, watched the local patriotic program, ate hamburgers, hiked in meadows of wilflowers, roasted smores, and watched fireworks off memorial hill.  We found a new great spot to watch fireworks too!  Next year, we'll actually bring the kids (they opted to shoot off fireworks at Ryder's house instead of watching the big ones).  We all got to bed super late!  Now only if I didn't have to work the next day...
