Bevan has not slacked a bit with his "training" this summer. It's amazing he even finds time to do it, even if it's 9 at night. The ulimate goal is St. George in October... but for now he's holding it together with some smaller races. In mid-June, he ran the last leg of Squaw Peak 50 with Vanessa. He was a "pacer", which means he doesn't pay or register, but gets to justify spending twice as much money to buy new trail-running shoes and gear. They made it to the finish line in amazing time! The post-race conversation started at how they will never do it again, but ended with what they will do different next time.
His next race was the Heber Half at the end of June. I bowed out this year for the race... but really enjoyed cheering on Bevan to a new PR (which I knew he could do without me). I also saw my running buddies come across the finish line and had a slight ting of FOMO. So, maybe I'll register for next year. But I don't know. The finish area food was severly lacking! No donuts or chocolate milk?! They need more incentive than just otter pops. It was really nice sleeping in and going on a bike ride instead, later in the afternoon.
