Dallin got baptized

It was such a good day!  It was a little while coming.  Even though his birthday was over the summer, we decided to postpone it until life was less busy and we could have max family there!... until I forgot about football season.  Is there EVER a good time?

Bevan: "That's the day of the Utah game!"

Me: "Aaaaaand?"

Bevan:  "Well it IS at 8 at night, so I guess that will work."

Dallin was actually excited for this day.  We planned out the perfect program, including all my favorite primary songs, prelude by Anna, and a lovely musical number by all the girl cousins.  They were pushing to keep it short so they combined the talks, which was great!  It was a wonderful service and Dallin was really happy!

We had the after-party at Hamlet park where the kids could play and everyone else could hang out and eat.  It was threatening rain some of the time,  but held off until we started cleaning up.  Whew!  Dallin was the life of the party!  There's never a dull moment when he's around and I hope the holy ghost will help him make good decisions.  We sure love our Dallin!

Swiss Days is back

Last year, when they cancelled swiss days, I wasn't all that sad.  It was nice to have a year off and go camping and swimming like a regular Labor Day weekend.  But deep down, I missed it.  Everyone missed it.  Some people missed the revenue, some missed the chaos.  When they confirmed it would ACTUALLY happen this year, we started running full steam.  Bevan and I passed off the 10k race to the new race directors... but still went to help, and order donuts, and pick up fruit, and lay out the course, and provide a dozen volunteers, and stay and clean up.  We can't quite let it go!  And that's okay.

I actually got a new swiss days "calling" to help with the baking.  It was a new side to swiss days I've never seen.  Each ward in both Midway stakes takes turns baking bratzlie cookies, braiding swiss bread, and organizing at-home baking, collecting, organizing, pricing, and selling the goodies.  Most of the real "work" was trying to find all the volunteers!  I'm sure our relief society was sick of my begging for help.  It all works out and needs are met.  The night before swiss days, I was helping cut a thousand brownies and couldn't help but notice what they were pricing the "home-baked goods" for.  I was shocked.  Who would pay that much?  Oh, I was wrong.  It ALL got sold!  There was a steady stream of sweet-toothed patrons for 2 days who bought just about every loaf, cookie, and roll left on the square.  Swiss days never ceases to amaze me!

Nora came with her girls + Mckay on Friday night, so they could help with the race, again.  Not as many runners this year, but I was okay with that.  It was kind of nice!  We helped clean up the race, ate breakfast, watched the parade, chilled at the house, took Addie and Paige to the knockwurst booth, worked for 2 hours, and still had energy to go back to the square and "shop".  I actually passed on that last one.  I still don't get the allure of swiss days shopping.  In the end, it was a complete success!  Records were broken, food sold out, booths made a killing, and everybody was dog tired!
