Lagoon and Halloween!

Lagoon is one my favorite places ever!  This love goes back to my childhood, when Stake Lagoon Day was the highlight of my summer.  And now I get to watch my kids have that same amazing experience, whenever those stars align for us to go.  This time around, we went late in the season, but we couldn't have asked for a better day.  The weather was perfect, the rides were all running, Nora and her kids were there, there were NO lines, and we only lost Dallin twice.  I know I'm getting old when I actually enjoyed a stroll through Pioneer Village (my head and neck needed a break from the pukey rides).  We brought amazing lunches and snacks and the kids got to trick-or-treat for candy.  Dallin would taunt the zombies and then turn and run away from them.  He thought it was funny.  Anna could go off with her cousins for some more grown-up rides (although there are still some she refuses to ride!).  Drew and Tommy were perfectly happy in kiddie-land with endless choices.  They DO have an amazing kiddie-land!  We ended up staying until closing, sneaking one last ride on the carousel.

It was too late to drive back home for trick-or-treating, so the kids went around Nora's neighborhood instead.  They made quite a haul!  Tommy was so exhausted from the day, he slept through it.  The others got plenty of candy that should last them for weeks.  It was a great way to end an exciting month!

It's October!

There's no one large event that dominated this month so far, but just a few small ones we want to remember:

Walk-to-School Day.  Once again, my ONE thing for PTA was a smashing success.  This year, we stocked up on more bottles of flavored water, granola bars, and Gogurts to hand out.  Anna and I decorated more trees along the walking route.  So many kids showed up at City Hall that Principal Thorne had to start walking early because there was quite the mob!  Usually there are only 30 kids or so.  This year, there were easily over 100!  Kristine and my new friend, Tracy, helped out at the snack table.  A fire truck showed up and let the kids climb all over it.  It was so noisy, nobody heard the bell ring and a whole bunch of kids were tardy for class.  Memories.

Conference Weekend!  Has it been 6 months already?  We loved going to the cabin again and sleeping over.  The kids had fun with cousins and yummy food.  We had soup at Mom's house on Saturday and then nachos at the cabin on Sunday.  My knee felt good enough to hike the big loop but didn't any signs of wildlife.  They know it's hunting season.  We left the party early on Sunday to go party with the Hawkins.  Our traditional "conference breakfast in the mountains" got switched to barbecue in the evening.  Tanner, Ciara, and the new baby made a special appearance.  We had amazing food!  This is a tradition I could get used to!
