Utah Valley Marathon

Bevan felt that he needed another “goal” for his off-season. Another race to train for…because Boston was 2 whole months ago! It’s good for men to have goals.

He chose Utah Valley Marathon because (1) he’s never done it before, (2) it was good timing for his off-season, and (3) you get a jacket instead of a shirt! Even though the “jacket” was thinner than most race shirts, he still likes it. Right in time for summer!

I thought I’d be prepared and get down Provo Canyon extra early. I guess I was still in “boston mode” because I was anticipating a lot more people. There was nobody!...well, compared to Boston, I guess. We found parking right away, right by the finish line and had time to kill. TOO much time to kill! The kids were on a short fuse anyway and it took Bevan a little longer to finish. He started cramping up towards the end and had to slow way down. But… we BOTH made it! Yay! The kids were able to get free Creamies and turns in the bouncy houses. You could hear Dallin over the loud live music easily.

End of School!

Oh, where did the school year go? We’re so proud of our kids, making it through an entire year at Midway Elementary. That’s so hard for a kid! Dallin finished pre-school and Anna “graduated” from kindergarten. They spared us from a graduation ceremony, but instead had a slideshow and treats. What a great way to end a year! My favorite memories include walking home with them every day; sun, rain, and snow! I’ll miss Becky, the crossing guard, which we never used because our house is just before the crosswalk… but I appreciate her watching after our house while she was there, pointing out the direction that Drew wanders off to. It’s going to be a fun summer! What’s in store? I’m cutting back my work to 3 days a week. Bevan will be home with kids for a day and then their favorite babysitter, Lily, will be here Tuesdays and Thursdays. The freezer is stocked with Dino Nuggets and Otter Pops, we just replenished the sand box with fresh sand, and fertilized the grass so it’s nice a green! Unfortunately, Ridley’s decided to increase their Shasta vending machine to 50 cents per can and their ice cream to 89 cents per cone! At least they still discount their donuts after 7pm. Oh well! It’s pretty tough trying to cross Main Street these days anyway. Rumor has it, we’re getting a traffic light soon so nothing will stand in our way between us and our ½ off donuts! We also have some trips planned, that we actually scheduled back in February in fear of campground reservations filling up early. Tetons and Bryce Canyon, here we come!
